Status Indicator doesn't show up on newly opened failed tabs

I have favicons and site icons off.
I have status indicators on.
I also have close buttons on tabs.

If I open a link, say from a bookmark or from a link on a page, in a new tab, and that fails to load,
the spot where the status indicator should be disappears once the page fails.  (So it's red while loading and then that whole spot
collapses).

(No errors in the JS Console)
