No idea. I think it's just him. He refused to take in patches for Nvu so
eventually the most prolific bug submitter forked off Kompozer as Nvu +

Not again but always. But basically he's avoided the subject in the last
year or so. But the last thing he tried to do was to scrub all
references to the suite from the mozilla website front pages.

Generally the top level of Mozilla had and has always been supportive of
the idea of SeaMonkey continuing. But it was the layer of developers
that came from the phoenix/aviary background that had this "the suite
must die" attitude. A year ago, one developer publicly stated he didn't
care if his patch broke SeaMonkey, we were a bunch of losers anyway.
Another tried to prevent us from using certain bugzilla blocking flags
claiming that only Firefox was entitled to use them.

However things this year are much more improved. Apparently the word
came down from on high that "if you break seamonkey, you fix it" (the or
else is implied).

The new crop of developers (swilsh, mfinkle, dao) don't have that
historical baggage and are generally quite supportive and are mindful
about not breaking SeaMonkey, Thunderbird, and other "community projects".

And of course we now have tinderboxes and buildbots running in MoCo data
centres and have access to the crash reporter servers, the tryservers,
the bouncer system, the l10n infrastructure, the mecurial servers, etc,
etc, etc.

KaiRo was even on the executive search committee when MoCo was looking
for a new CEO (now John Lilly). We are on good terms with the Mozilla
Messaging people and are working on unforking some stuff in /mailnews/
that mscott forked (for no apparent reason).

By the way mscott left after a tiff with mozilla in case you missed
that. A lot of stuff that he didn't want in Thunderbird is being
relooked at (I think you mentioned on your blog that you were looking at
some mailnews bug - perhaps this is the time to reopen it?) and David
Ascher has lots of new ideas some of them quite radical. We are picking
up all the new backend mailnews improvements for free. We are not too
sure if we want to expose some UI to some of this stuff. But of course
as an extension developer /you/ could.

So yes, while things still aren't perfect, they are much much better
these days.
