A builtin letsencrypt wordpress plugin enabled by default would certainly aid your goal significantly, btw. I had to go to extra lengths for free!! to enable https on the admin login of a friends wordpress site despite him having paid a supposedly professional web development company to set it up, -- KISSIS - Keep It Simple So It's Securable
