I'm sorry to say that's just not how this project operates. Individuals 
and teams are empowered to make decisions. We don't put things up to a 
vote. Sometimes we make the wrong decisions and we learn from those and 
we try to recover quickly, but that's our model and I think it's the 
right one.

You've been a part of this model for a decade or more, so I'm kind of 
surprised to see you proposing we abandon it in favor of a democratic 
model. I assume that you'd be a bit put off if I proposed that we put up 
all of your patches for a vote in this newsgroup.
