Re: Removing Firefox Version Number

Knowing the version number allows me to see weather I'll be able to
use an extension or not. I now know that ReloadEvery is only
compatible with 5 or below (at least for now) when I log into a new
computer I can check the version in help->about to see weather that
browser will take my extension or I'll have to roll-back.
Interestingly, this was the less important part of my post. My "real"
question was what the real problem we were trying to solve by removing
the version number from help->about is. It seemed to me it was to
avoid confusing some users. Is this that case? Additionally, I put
forward the idea that at least for me (and I'd bet several other
users) the ONLY function of help->about was to get version numbers and
this would break user expectations. I'm not saying this alone is
reason to leave the version number, but removing it certainly costs
you something from a user expectations point of view, so I was
wondering what we were GAINING by removing the version number from
that particular place but still leaving it in other, slightly less
intuitive places like help->troubleshooting.
