Glass isn't really a good thing > within the UI of an application, in my opinion. You can revert to a scheme/theme that is very close to XP, or even "classic" NT/3.x, if you like. That fixes a lot of the other issues. The one that is imperfectly fixed is increasing the theme's font size on hi-res screens to a readable level for ancient eyes: this often results in overlapping text on web pages. That effect is AFAICT a combination of OS, graphics engine, and page code. HTH Wolf K.
