I've used the version number many times in the past to find out if one of my friends or family were on an old version of Firefox because my first step in troubleshooting is almost always to make sure they're up to date. Firefox has made this much easier for me. My friends and family will always be up to date now and I can skip that step most of the time and jump right to the next level of troubleshooting with them. That usually involves asking them which add-ons they have installed and what preferences they have set. I can get that information from them quite easily now, thanks to the amazing Troubleshooting page which tells me almost everything I need to know to help them with troubleshooting. - A
