I've a patch which got ui-review+ already, but is still pending review,
in bug 600505, which simplifies the options to these choices:
(*) Automatically install updates (recommended: improved security)
[x] warm me if this will disable any of my add-ons
( ) Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them
( ) Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)
I hope that makes it a bit clearer.
