but consider this situation:

Cyko heard something about firefox 9.0, currently in the aurora
channel, having a new feature that he has been waiting for for months.
The radio station did not mention that 9.0 is currently in the aurora
channel and when he checks the about dialog it shows only that he is
up to date. We lose aurora testers and the feature later shows up with
bugs or poorly implemented. Cyko must check "troubleshooting
information" (although his version of firefox is working perfectly) or
google to find out what version he is and which channel he needs to
change to.
