It's been part of Firefox since 2.0. Here's a screencast: <http://ilias.ca/screencasts/fx-tabclip.webm>. Notice that after I open a 6th tab, the close button disappears on background tabs. If you set the preference browser.tabs.tabClipWidth to 0 and restart Firefox, the close buttons should stay. Screencast: <http://ilias.ca/screencasts/fx-tabclip2.webm>
