Helpers open files which is already in temp directory

If clicking a PDF link which was read(say, by helper FoxIt) and saved in tmp directory, it will be downloaded again and saved in the same place with a different name. Is it possible to let the helper open an existing file of certain sites in temp folder without download again? It will be helpful when surfing some scientific paper sites.
