If you are referring to "the developers said that it would be disabled 
in the next release, at a level where users COULD NOT turn it back on. 
They also said this was a 'temporary' situation - but have not stated 
When they would turn it back on." then I don't see the point.

I don't recall seeing a developer state this would not be reenabled once 
security concerns are mitigated. But I could be wrong. Developer quote 
with context please.
