Hi, I would really like to be able to manually rename a file that is currently being downloaded or has finished downloading. I've seen a few similar suggestions during a search on the Mozilla site, but not the same and not with reasons explained in detail. I often start an installer or ZIP file downloading, and want to change its name to include the version number and/or full name of the file, and sometimes other details. I would like to be able to enter a new name _while_ the download is in progress. Firefox would either rename the partly downloaded file immediately and continue downloading with the new filename, or it would remember the rename request and action it when the download finishes; the second method sounds easier to implement. At present I have to note the version number and wait until the download is complete, then rename the downloaded file. If I'm downloading many files at the same time it can be hard to keep track of them and I have often made mistakes. The rename function would need to work after the file has been fully downloaded, as well as during the download, because the download might finish while I'm typing the new name, so when the rename takes place, the file may be fully downloaded. It would be helpful to be able to specify a new location, as well as a new filename, for the downloaded file, but for me personally this is not very important. I think a feature like this might be popular, judging by the existence of other similar requests. Thank you for considering my suggestion :-) Kris Heidenstrom Wellington, New Zealand [email protected]
