Under OE I was able to write messages rules based on "Subject Line Content" to prevent the downloading of large numbers of Yahoo & other groups, that my wife subscribes to, unto my computer. We are not going to go to separate email accounts, for many reasons, to solve the problem. Currently, I am just deleting her messages that arrive on my machine. I could write rules/filters that would move all of these directly to a local folder or trash as they are downloaded. We leave all messages on our POP server for about 5 days, just in case of a whoops! Don
