Update Firefox, Thunderbird

Hallo,
I use firefox and thunderbird and try to get always actual versions. But 
if calling update I don't know if all my add-ons are working with the 
new version. Before starting the update about "searching for update" all 
my add-ons should be checked if they are working or must be deactiveted. 
Then I would like to get the opportunuty to cancel the update.
