I started using aviplay a few days ago, and had a hard time to compile it. I have version 0.7.38, on my desktop, with a GeForce 2 card. No problem at all, but AC3 DMP sound (--ac ffac3 solves it). I recompiled everything on my old laptop, Dell inspiron 7500, ati rage mobility card, with gatos xv extension. The system is suposedly identical to my desktop: redhat 7.3, ximian-gnome 1.4. Well, on the laptop I had the same problem described on october 2003: randon freezing during initialization. Initially I thought it was related to the XV extension, but the behaviour was completely random. In my case if I run aviplay with the option --quiet, the problem disappears. I do not know why, but this solved my problem. Is a pentium III 600 too slow? I have never had any problem like that witn mplayer, ogle, vlc, etc... Maybe someone might give a better explanation. I hope this help. _________________________________________________________________ Has one of the new viruses infected your computer? Find out with a FREE online computer virus scan from McAfee.
