adding sound to video

hello,
i'd like to create a video from a set of images. i have already succeded
to get the video part working (my code is based on avimake and im2avi).
now i'd like to get audio in, which is already mp3-compressed.
can you please advise me how can this be done or point me to some piece
of code?
