Problem with installation of avifile

Hi,
     I downloaded avifile from the website and I tried to installed but without any success.
First, I  did sh autogen.sh, ./configure, make successfully. But when I did make installed I have
these errors at the console:

/usr/include/freetype2/freetype/freetype.h:20:2: #error "`ft2build.h' hasn't been included yet!"
/usr/include/freetype2/freetype/freetype.h:21:2: #error "Please always use macros to include
FreeType header files."
/usr/include/freetype2/freetype/freetype.h:22:2: #error "Example:"
/usr/include/freetype2/freetype/freetype.h:23:2: #error "  #include <ft2build.h>"
/usr/include/freetype2/freetype/freetype.h:24:2: #error "  #include FT_FREETYPE_H"
make[2]: *** [sub_ft.lo] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/pat/Desktop/avifile-0.7-0.7.38/lib/video'
make[1]: *** [install-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/pat/Desktop/avifile-0.7-0.7.38/lib'
make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1

I looked at freetype.h and saw that the "#error" are some sort of define. The only thing that I
don't understant is about the sub_ft.lo. What can I do???
