shell control alternative for beep?

Hi there,

Being my first post let me just quickly say that I have been using beep
for a week now and am having a seemingly more positive experience than
most people I talk to. It never crashes for me unless I try to load a
cd, that's all I've found so far. Thank you for making this gtk2 port,
something I have longed for for quite a while. It irks me still having
to run any gtk1 applications.

With XMMS I traditionally used a program called xmmsctrl for controlling
it with keystrokes (setting up window manager binds to run xmmsctrl
commands to affect xmms). I am wondering if anybody knows of an
alternative of this for beep or one that can be modified to work with
beep. Not being a c/c++ man, I cannot handle the job of porting one of
these to beep, unfortunately, or I would.

That's it for now, I look forward to seeing an all-gtk mode as mentioned
on the site for 1.1!
