Personally I would favour requiring the -o 'option' and getting rid of
all the other ways to specify output directory.  However I seem to
recall that a lot of higher-level tools using dvdauthor rely on the dest
attribute.  So these two need to stay.  The OUTPUTDIR environment
variable, however, has a very generic name and runs the risk of
conflicting with other tools.
