This was news to me, perhaps it is to others, too. Turns out when burning DVD±R-DL discs, you have to set the point where you transition from one layer to the other correctly, otherwise the result may not work properly on some players. Doom9, as usual, has already got a detailed discussion of the issue here <http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=95250>. An Excel-format spreadsheet for doing the calculation is available here <http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/layerbreakcalculator.xls>. And it turns out growisofs has an option for setting this, as explained here <http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-113514.html>. If I understand this description correctly <http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/Helppro/layerbreak.htm>, sector numbers within the IFO files are not affected, but the cell starting on the layer break must be marked as non-seamless.
