It should be fine I think, though I think you might need to spumux it 
with something (it's unclear to me what happens if you don't spumux a 
subtitle stream into a menu).

Have another <title> and jump to that, then jump back to the 'root' menu 
of the titleset?  I think that is what the example in my first reply 
did, though I recall I had some trouble.  I think what I ended up with 
was more like:

fpc: g2 = 1; jump to titleset 1 menu entry root
titleset 1 menu entry root: if (g2 == 1) jump title 2;
title 2 pre: g2 = 0
title 2 post: call menu entry root
