And it writes down an elementary stream (just video) selecting `mpeg2 video' as output. I thought I needed an obscure command line tool, but avidemux will be by far my preferred choice! Thank you. While we're on it, is there a well-done quality comparison about free/open mpeg2 video encoders? Never found a recent one, some time ago I asked for such a comparison on www.compression.ru but now it seems they're just focusing on mpeg4-avc only.
