This is going straight to the link. Were there no compile commands
before this? Otherwise, where did those .o files come from? When I do
the build, the next few lines immediately after that “Entering
directory” are:

    gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I.  -DSYSCONFDIR="\"/usr/local/etc\"" -I/usr/include/libxml2  -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/fribidi      -Wall -g -O2 -MT dvdauthor.o -MD -MP -MF .deps/dvdauthor.Tpo -c -o dvdauthor.o dvdauthor.c
    dvdauthor.c: In function ‘deletedir’: dvdauthor.c:1220: warning: suggest parentheses around ‘&&’ within ‘||’
    mv -f .deps/dvdauthor.Tpo .deps/dvdauthor.Po

Did you not see anything like this?
