Both will also set various multiplexing options, system headers, placeholders for NAV packets—all the fiddly little bits you need to get right for DVD-Video. DVDAuthor has limited ability to patch things up if they’re not exactly in the right format—that’s why it’s so nice that FFmpeg will preset everything for you.
