It is the first time that i am answering on this mailing list but like JD
seems to have a problem with his processor and like i'am a little geek i can
give an answer.

The AMD 3700 is called San Diego and he have a clock of 2.2 Ghz. Personally,
i 'll said more in 2006 because i have bought mine in May of this year this.

It is not normal that he "runs" at 760 mhz and that you encode a DVD (in a
MPEG 2  format/codec) in 14/16 hours. The mine was working well and i have
none problems with.

In the documentation that José Jorve have given (in San Diego) you have all
the informations like the set instruction MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3,....

I don't know if you have bought it new or second hand but there is two
possible explanations : either there is a problem in the clock either he is
underclocked.

You have two possibility for trying to resolve this : either you are an
expert (or a geek) at least you know somebody who is one and you modified in
the Bios the clock of the processor, either you use a new software called
TurionPowerControl

Phoronix <http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=home>. It looks promised
because you can overclocked or underclocked your processor (Only AMD k8 and
k10 series) without a lot of efforts. It could be the easy solution for you.

I hope that will resolve your problem because if my computer was putting
14/16 just for create a DVD, i transform him in a ..................;Plane
in................... 5 minutes. [?][?]
