OK, thanks for that. On its own it’s not enough to demonstrate a
bug—read on for why.

There is a peculiarity about the way DVD-Video is structured: the VOB
file contains the video, audio and subpicture streams, but the
definitions of the colours used in the subpictures are in the IFO file.

IFO files are read by dvdunauthor. This generates .vob files that
contain the colour-table information in a DVDAuthor-specific format
(hidden inside a “padding” stream). spuunmux can read this format to
generate PNG files with the right colours.

So basically you shouldn’t use spuunmux directly on the .VOB files off
the DVD, you should put them through dvdunauthor first.
