It is supposed to output its own error messages when it hits problems (in which case it returns a null result to dvdunauthor which then exits), but it appears this is sometimes not the case, so there is no indication what the problem is. My guess is the call to DVDOpenFile on line 1098 of dvdunauthor.c is returning a null result.
