IMESHO, your choice to report is a good one.

this inconsistency will impact very few people, however those it impacts
will be in serious teeth-grinding territory, and having
insignificant-seeming details like these pointed out (including the
error-message text) will save a large proportion of those people an immense
amount of stress (and time).
