Dear Marcus Meissner and The gPhoto Team,

Thank you for your many years of volunteering and contributing to the
gPhoto project and the wider free and open source software community.

Your work represents the spirit that has driven so many successful open
source projects: people freely sharing their knowledge, improving
software together, and helping others simply because they care about
creating better technology.

Your name also has a special place in the history of free software. I
still remember reading the 1999/The Rebel Code/article in/The New York
Times/, which described your participation in the global Linux community
and illustrated how volunteers around the world collaborated to solve
problems through open development. That article captured the excitement
and idealism of the early open source movement and inspired many people
to appreciate the power of collaborative software development.

The same collaborative spirit continues to live on in projects such as
gPhoto, where volunteers like you make digital photography more
accessible across GNU/Linux and other free software platforms.

Thank you for your dedication, your technical expertise, and your
willingness to share your time with the community. Contributions like
yours have helped build software that millions of people benefit from,
often without realizing the countless volunteer hours behind it.

With sincere appreciation,

Ole Aamot
