Hi Volker,
 
the auto focus was set to AI servo so that it doesn't block the shutter to
release when no focus is possible. For the lens I think it was manual mode, but
I'm not 100% sure (only 99%). I have to prove that. AI servo and manual focus
are the settings that I used in my photo booth and that proved to be very
reliable with my 1100D before.
