Sony RX100V Problems

I have been using gphoto for a while with Nikon DSLRs but have recently started to try to control a Sony RX100V and run into some problems. I’m hoping there is someone with some specific experience with this camera that might be able to help out.

So far, I set the internal camera settings for USB Connection Mode to PC Remote. I’m running the latest version of Stretch on a Raspberry Pi 3. So far I’ve just been doing some testing on the command line before I dive into Python and the program I am putting together.

With --list-config I get a small list of camera options that I can read. With --get-config every option I have tested so far shows as Read Only. I tried setting “exposurecompensation” and while it did change the exposure comp on the camera, it then produced an error and I couldn’t do anything else without disconnecting and reconnecting the camera.

--trigger-capture seems to work fine. The camera takes a picture but that picture is not saved anywhere.

Even if I press the shutter button while the camera is connected to the computer, those images don’t appear to be saved anywhere at all.

Ultimately, I need to get the filename of the last picture taken. Usually, I do this by actually taking a picture and downloading it and examining the filename. From there, I’ll know what the next frame is and my application can go from there and log data for each of the next frames. However, --capture-image-and-download causes an error. The shutter fires and then nothing. I get a PTP I/O Error. Error: Could not capture Image. Error: Could not capture.

Can anyone offer any tips or experience with this particular camera?

Thanks
Drew
