Thanks, camera buffering is significant. I'm mostly working with a Canon PowerShot S70 which I'm planning to use for this. When I tried my Nikon D5200 instead I immediately get the current image. Which is 640x424 BTW. I'm surprised it works on the Nikon at all, I wasn't planning on that. On the Nikon it doesn't seem like a preview image. If I hold the camera I can feel mechanical movement like maybe the mirror and shutter. I'm not doing anything camera-specific except canon_enable_capture. Maybe this Nikon doesn't do previews, I didn't look at the chart. It's probably not important, I'm not going to stick my D5200 out in a birdfeeder anyway.
