Recommended camera, tested with Gphoto2 below $500

Hello all,

My colleague Rob posted here a while ago re: the manualfocusdrive feature
of ghpoto2.

At the moment, our Canon 1200D has a bug that means I get occasional
lockups when trying to save direct from memory and so I have to save to the
SD card first.
There are a few other issues too, unrelated to gphoto2. It has been ok
though, but I am now looking into upgrading the camera (for other reasons).

Which cameras would people recommend that have been tested and confirmed to
be most compatible with gphoto2?


So those that run the most stable and with least or even zero known bugs.
Are there any machines and have no known bugs to work with Gphoto2?

Ideally I am looking at:- below $500 camera with kit lense

- open to any brand

- DSLR or 4/3 are acceptable

- best possible resolution (looking at 20+ megapixels)

- manual focus and settings
