Yeah, OK, I can get something like: Multiple cameras (3) found. 0 Motorola Moto G (ID1) 1 Canon Powershot S70 (PTP mode) 2 Nikon DSC D5200 Now I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to get from a list to a single camera. By using a name? Seems like the list should have some binary identifier or contexts or something: Camera or GPContext maybe as one of the fields. Then you could have a getCamera function that returned that given an index. When you do a list_unref it goes away. It doesn't seem like there's a bridge between a list and a single camera, like they come from different eras.
