D5200 works fine, I almost bought a D3200 instead. And because the drivers make everything work the same way I can use the same libgphoto program I wrote with my Canon Powershot S70. If it's in the compatibility list it should work. Coolpix generally isn't compatible but you'd have to check that model. OK, I did: http://gphoto.org/proj/libgphoto2/support.php The D3200 is more compatible than the A900 but both should at least do something.
