Aha, so it's a bug in the driver for that camera or in the camera's
firmware.  Is the firmware up to date?  But knowing this narrows down
where to look for the problem.  I'm just trying to do amateur triage.

Why do you transfer them off to a laptop while shooting, is there
someone doing something with them meanwhile?  Why don't you just use
an SD card big enough to hold the full session?  They make them up to
1 TB now, I have several 128 GB.  And would it be a huge deal if
sometime in 4 hours you popped in a different SD card?  The camera's
battery probably doesn't last 4 hours, maybe you use an AC adapter.
Change both in the same break.
