Hello, I was trying to capture an image from an Olympus TG-6, using this command: $ ./gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download *** ERROR *** Sorry, your camera does not support generic capture. ERROR: Could not capture image. ERROR: Could not capture. *** ERROR (-6: 'Unsupported operation') *** It also told me to use --debug and --debug-file, and I got a 30+ kilobyte log. I won't post all of it here, but here are the lines that seemed the most relevant: 3.498190 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Device info: 3.498201 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Manufacturer: OLYMPUS 3.498209 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Model: TG-6 3.498218 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): device version: 1.00 3.498227 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): serial number: 'BJ6A58034' 3.498237 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Vendor extension ID: 0x00000006 3.498246 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Vendor extension version: 100 3.498255 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Vendor extension description: (null) 3.498278 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Functional Mode: 0x0000 3.498286 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): PTP Standard Version: 100 3.498294 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Supported operations: 3.498305 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1001 (Get device info) 3.498316 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1002 (Open session) 3.498326 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1003 (Close session) 3.498336 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1004 (Get storage IDs) 3.498346 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1005 (Get storage info) 3.498356 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1006 (Get number of objects) 3.498366 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1007 (Get object handles) 3.498375 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1008 (Get object info) 3.498385 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1009 (Get object) 3.498395 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x100a (Get thumbnail) 3.498405 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x100b (Delete object) 3.498414 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x100f (Format storage) 3.498425 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1014 (Get device property description) 3.498434 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1015 (Get device property value) 3.498444 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x1016 (Set device property value) 3.498454 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x101b (Get partial object) 3.498476 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x9801 (Get object properties supported) 3.498486 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x9802 (Get object property description) 3.498499 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x9803 (Get object property value) 3.498509 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x9805 (Get object property list) 3.498517 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Events Supported: 3.498527 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x4004 (StoreAdded) 3.498537 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x4005 (StoreRemoved) 3.498547 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x4002 (ObjectAdded) 3.498557 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x4009 (RequestObjectTransfer) 3.498565 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): Device Properties Supported: 3.498576 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x5001 (Battery Level) 3.498587 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0x5011 (Date & Time) 3.498597 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0xd405 (Device Icon) 3.498608 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0xd406 (Session Initiator Info) 3.498618 print_debug_deviceinfo (2): 0xd407 (Perceived Device Type) Now, just to clarify, does this mean that the camera itself doesn't support capturing images from a computer, or does it mean that libgphoto doesn't have the necessary driver code? The Olympus TG-6 isn't listed on the website as a supported camera, so if a driver was written, could I capture images on it with gphoto2? Thanks, David Stumph
