Hi Hubert & Marcus & everyone,

  * Sorry Marcus did not see your email earlier, it sent to Junk!

I did what Marcus mentioned & checked (dmesg) it showed!

[ 6584.927776] usb 1-1-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
[ 6585.867750] usb 1-1-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
[ 6585.868384] usb 1-1-port1: unable to enumerate USB device
[ 6599.427050] usb 1-1-port2: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
[ 6600.336956] usb 1-1-port2: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
[ 6600.337590] usb 1-1-port2: attempt power cycle

which kept changing when I change the port the USB cable is connected to.

I have tried over 5 different cables (which all of them normally work) & even I normally use some of them to connect the camera to Windows, but strangely only the last one worked & got the camera connected with the Pi!!

so now the camera is connected and was able to take my first pictures using the gPhoto2 ( screenshot below), quite excited to start making cool 3D printing timelapses with gPhoto2!

Vielen Dank / thanks alot!

Gruß / Regards,
Zaid

Hi Hubert,

Thanks you for reply & appreciate it!

It seems I did not put sufficient info, so I am adding the remaining details:

  * this trial is with a brand new ' flashed' card & all verions were installed yesterday. I did this just to eliminate any other source of problem that could have happened in my previous trials

Answering your remarks in red, hope it helps to give a better picture:

The command you are looking for is `gphoto2 --auto-detect`

used it as well, screenshot in the end of the email - just blank!

`-list-ports` doesn't list cameras.

yes, I just saw in some videos that this changes after plugging in the camera, so I though could be useful!

Also your version of libgphoto2 is quite old.

I also found it strange, as mentioned, in this trial just yesterday I flashed the card & installed the gphoto2 / libgphoto , so I expected to have (2.5.27) or (2.5.26) , but I got the (2.5.20 / 2.5.22-3).... I tried to update, but it gives me the screenshot below

I can see that the newer versions are available SourceForge, but frankly I do not know how to install them 'manually' - I am not an IT-guy ,, just trying my best :) ... could someone please share the procedure to do so - if any? I am using Windows & Putty, but if something else is needed I can follow the steps!

Thanks alot & your answers are highly appreciated!

Zaid

The command you are looking for is `gphoto2 --auto-detect`

`-list-ports` doesn't list cameras.

Also your version of libgphoto2 is quite old.
