Cannot capture image and download with Sony A7R4, libgphoto2 2.5.29

We are trying to get the Sony A7R4 up and running over at the Internet Archive with our digitization systems, but we are unable to get it to capture-image-and-download on Ubuntu 18.04.6. We are using libgphoto2 2.5.29 because it looks like that's where a previously reported A7R4 bug was fixed, but it is not working for us.
