This is the configuration that works reliability for me in terms of
programmatically controlling the power zoom:

Canon 90D + 18-135 mm USM lens + Power Zoom (PZ-E1) Canon adapter + Canon
SDK

I know, it being restricted to this particular lens and the fact that PZ-E1
has been discontinued by Canon is a bummer.
