Do you need that abbreviated album name as a directory name or in the
Ogg/MP3 tags?

If you only need it in the Ogg/MP3 tags, you could write a script that
fiddles with the album name before passing it to the real encoder.
If you can't do that on your own, send the name of your encoder and the
command line you are using, so I'll have a look.
