I went into Grip and changed /dev/cdrom to /dev/hdc.
After that I
[joe@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost joe]# chmod 777 /dev/hdc
[root@localhost joe]#
This seems to hold untill I log out, when I boot up again
the /dev/hdc is still there, but I have to change permissions again.
The above solution gets rid of the error but only for that session.
