I was trying to avoid having to upgrade due to all the problems I was having with dependencies. The upgrade has fixed the issue. I eventually managed to compile the rpm for 3.3.1 from source. There were lots of dependencies that it didnt pick up. I also had to add a couple of symbolic links for some libraries. However, I now have a grip 3.3.1 rpm for Fedora core 4 on x86_64, if anyone would like it posted somewhere.
