so, my failure is still in rip.c, anyone know what ginfo->mp3file[cpu] 
contains?

MakeDirs(ginfo->mp3file[cpu]);
  if(!CanWrite(ginfo->mp3file[cpu])) {
    DisplayMsg(_("No write access to write encoded file"));
    return FALSE;
  }

version is 3.2.0, ...
