So I've been using Grip for years=2C but Ubuntu for not as long. I'm curren=
tly using Kubuntu 9.04=2C and Grip v3.3.1 (the one in the Kubuntu repos). T=
his is the first time I've run Grip on this installation=2C and due to the =
problem I'm having=2C I've moved my old Grip config files and am just using=
the stock configuration for Grip.
The problem that I'm having is that when Grip rips a track from a CD=2C it =
is WAY too loud. You can see that the resulting .wav file clips off the cha=
rt in a program such as Audacity. But if I use cdparanoia from the command =
line=2C the resulting .wav file is perfect. Note that this is before any en=
coding happens. We're just talking the ripping to wav part of the process.
I've posted a page to the Web that shows the wav files in Audacity:
http://baez.110mb.com/grip/index.html
If that page doesn't appear when you first visit=2C try refreshing=2C or vi=
siting later. Sometimes that host is a bit flaky.
I've tried using the "cdparanoia" option in the Rip Config tab. I've also t=
ried using the "other" and manually configuring cdparanoia using the fields=
provided in Grip. But no matter what I try=2C the wav that comes out of Gr=
ip is WAY too hot...
Any sugestions?
Thanks!
-joe
