Hi everyone,

We wanted to take this opportunity to give all of you an update about the
Helix Community
and a number of things in the pipeline.

Headlines:

1. Helix Community reaches 100,000 registered members
2. New mailing lists page
3. Helix Community is hiring!
4. Helix Community Site Upgrade

========================================================================
1. Helix Milestone - 100,000th registered member

At 10:33 AM on 25th October, 2005, Robert Holt became the 100,000th
registered member in the
Helix Community.

In a short span of 3 years, the Helix Community has grown from a handful of
members to 100,000
registered members, many of whom actively contribute in making the Helix
DNA platform the best
digital media platform for all types of devices.

Many thanks and congratulations to everybody who has been involved in
making the
Helix Community successful.

2. New mailing lists page

Mailing lists in Helix Community are probably the best way for users of the
community to interact.
They are the best tools for users to get apprised of the exciting things
that are going on, get their
development and product related questions answered or sometimes just get
general information
about the community, its components and its processes.

All Helix developers are part of the mailing lists and hence the mailing
lists are the first recourse
to getting more information about Helix DNA components, getting your
problems solved and
getting deeply involved in the community.

This page is available at
https://community.helixcommunity.org/2005/mailinglists

It is a good idea to subscribe to the "announce" mailing lists if you are
interested updates about
major announcements or process changes in the community. These are very low
volume
(<5 emails/month) "announce" mailing lists and are thus easy to digest :)

3. Helix Community is hiring!

We're looking for an enthusiastic individual to take the responsibility of
making Helix Community
even better by serving as a Software Development Engineer. We're
particularly interested in individuals
with strong credentials in large-scale open source developement, such as
Mozilla, OpenOffice,
GNOME, or better yet, Helix. Be sure to submit your Helix Community ID when
you submit your
resume! ;-)

4. Helix Community Site Upgrade

The Helix Community Operations team is scheduled to roll out a site upgrade
in Q1 of 2006. We have
upgraded the platform to a GForge 4.2 base, which gives us integrated Wiki
support and better reporting
features.

Other completed features include better support for CVS access through the
Database with
web-based controls, better logging functionality and a revised hardware
infrastructure to provide a more
robust and reliable base. Features that are currently being worked on
include a comprehensive search
interface and other integration details.

========================================================================

Thats all for now. Wish you all a very happy new year!

Cheers,
Rishi.
