Yeah, if you used their documentation, as opposed to packet sniffing it
yourself, I think you're out of luck.  They explicitly forbid GPL
distribution.  You may be able to skirt it with a BSD license, but then
you have GPL-vs-BSD license problems.

Keep an eye on the EU anti-trust monitoring.  Microsoft's reluctance to
disclose their tech for use in open source us specifically one of the
issues being contested.
