I won't do it.

The point is that it's too much work for too little effort. libpdmp 
(http://www.pointless.net/libpdmp/) failed miserably in the past to create 
a common framework for all DAP-like devices, and since, the libs are 
one-per family.

Not to the extreme. But it's a bit much to maintain that legacy code as 
part of libmtp which must be quick moving. The philosophy behind libmtp is 
very close to libnjb however, just that I killed of stuff I didn't like 
and introduced some new.

Gnomad2 and AmaroK use both libs.

Banshee use libnjb and libgphoto2 which has partly common sourcebase with 
libmtp, just a different approach.

I don't know which one would be best for KIO::Zen though...

Have you considered writing KIO::MTP from scratch? I guess that's what I 
would do (if I had time).
