How to build Codec Private Data for H.264 stream using x264 encoder?

Hi,

I am using x264 encoder to encode raw images into H.264 video stream based
on the following sample code:
https://github.com/jesselegg/x264/blob/master/example.c

I would like to get Codec Private Data to be used with mkv container, what
is the correct way of extracting information from x264 encoder?

I found the following post about the data structure of Codec Private Data
but am lost relating this to what I can get from the x264 encoder.
